Color—December Show

December 7, 2019 – January 4, 2020
Opening Reception Friday, December 13th, 3-7PM
Color, solo show of acrylic and oil paintings by Rebecca McNeely in the Overlook Gallery

This series of abstract paintings is based on McNeely’s emotional response to memories of the beautiful places she has visited, particularly the wide open vistas of the American West. Each painting is a collaboration of her perception, attention, and intuition with the medium itself. Beginning with expressive brush strokes alla prima, she builds up the paint, layering with glazes and mixtures of pure pigment, sometimes scraping back, always enhancing the line, color, and form. In each case, the challenge is to simultaneously use  training and intuition while remaining responsive to the prompts of the particular painting, and to its moment of completion.

In our Main Gallery we present new member works for December including paintings, sculpture, jewelry and metalwork, glass, wood and ceramics, mixed media and photography.
