When viewed through a kaleidoscope, the world alters and beautifully distorts reality through its lens. For its national juried show, juried by noted artist Gavin Glakas, Gallery Clarendon sought art which challenged the viewer to see the world through a different lens; art which challenges perceptions, depicts alternate viewpoints and reality or simply shows the beauty in seeing things from a different angle.
Sana Shahid’s solo show in our second-floor Overlook Gallery, “Catharsis,” consists of works in several media including acrylic, pencil and watercolor. Among these is “The Hands Series,” a collection of acrylics-based paintings on canvas which the artists says “capture the essence of human nature: that starts from the ground up, influencing the way we tinker, toy, and imagine, and inspires a belief that where we create, can affect what we create.”
Over the past year and a half, we a have had the privilege of being part of the North Arlington community, thanks to Regency and Market Common Clarendon, who allowed our artists to occupy the space at 2800 Clarendon Blvd. As of the end of February 2020, our occupancy will be ending, as the space is now under lease. We hope to find a new home within North Arlington as soon as possible; until that time we hope you continue to visit us at our Crystal City location, Gallery Underground, in the Crystal City shops at 2100 Crystal Drive. Please visit our website at galleryunderground.org.
